Here’s a view of the city looking across Coal Harbour from Vancouver’s Stanley Park. The tower on the left edge of the photo is Harbor Centre Tower.
As Becky and I strolled through Stanley Park, we happened upon this shaded grassy area. Becky had the bright idea for me to take her picture, so I put the camera down into the grass and did just that. This photo hangs in 8" X 10" form in Becky’s parents’ home.
In the same location in Stanley Park where the previous photo was taken, I captured another postcard-perfect image.
Once we left Stanley Park we visited Capilano Suspension Bridge and Park to walk 450 feet across and 230 feet above the Capilano River. The wire-cabled bridge wouldn’t have been wobbly with just one person on it. It was clusters of tourists weaving across the bridge who tested each another’s equilibriums. As you can see, there was no danger of falling from the bridge because of its fenced sides.
In addition to the bridge itself, Capilano Park offers lush, green, meandering trails; a collection of authentic totem poles that were carved in the early 1900s; wood-carving demonstrations; and restaurants.
Originally built with hemp rope and cedar planks in 1889, this is the fourth iteration of the bridge and attracts more than 800,000 annual visitors.
