I snapped this photo from the beach on Labadee,
a region of the island of Hispaniola, Haiti. The interesting
element of this photo is contrast. There we are on the beach,
walking on the sand, swimming in the warm Caribbean water,
sunbathing, sand in our suits, and within an easy swimming
distance a gigantic, luxurious, colossal, floating hotel awaits.
Tenders were used to transport us to and from the ship.
Becky and I took the Hispaniola Coastal Adventure Tour while
visiting the Haitian island. The tour was hardly an “adventure,” but
we did learn about the history of Haiti and a little about
the still-practiced Haitian art of voodoo.
