We were so tired after our big day yesterday and slept a little late this morning. After we got up and finally got going we headed to breakfast, which was offered at our motel. We made plans to see a couple of unique things Callaway has to offer.

Our first stop was the Birds of Prey show. And what a show it was! Max impressed the person sitting next to us before the show started. He said, “We going to see an owl and owls are nocturnal.” I thought we were going to have to pick her up off the floor. She was so amazed that he was four and knew that information. We have such a smart cookie on our hands. At the show we not only saw an owl but a black vulcher, a red-shouldered hawk, and a Harris’s hawk. They flew right over our heads. It was something wonderful to see!

Out next stop was the Butterfly Center. This was amazing, too. Beautiful butterflies were flying all over the place, landing here, there and everywhere. One even landed on Jaddie and scared him. Max tried hard to get one to land on him, but he just couldn’t stand still long enough. Bless his heart, though, because he spotted a ladybug on a leaf for me. He was so excited because he knows they are my favorite.

We could’ve spent more time at Callaway Gardens, but it was so hot and humid. We plan to go back when the weather is cooler.

On the way home Max said he wanted to visit Mimi and Grandpa. He’s spent the evening with them and he’s even spending the night. He and Daddy are going to Max’s preschool together tomorrow. It’s a split-session day. Wednesday is Max’s first full day by himself.

Daddy and I are about to watch All in the Family and we look forward to having our favorite little fellow snuggle with us tomorrow night.

When we got up we started to get ready to head to Callaway Gardens. After Jaddie washed the van, we headed to Granny’s for breakfast, and then we headed south.

Our drive took a little over two hours, and I slept most of the way. Max watched the iPad for the trip. Once we got to Callaway we put on our swimsuits and headed to the beach. It felt as though it was a 100 degrees in the shade. We enjoyed the water and the music. Max spotted the giant air pillow at the Aqua Island. We purchased tickets for an hour of jump time. Max had a lot of fun, but I can’t the same for me. I had to swim us out to the pillow and that was no easy task. Once there it was super-difficult to get on the pillow. Once I finally got on. Someone jumped and knocked me off. I had to dog paddle around the pillow for an hour while Max jumped. When he was done I had to swim us both back to shore. I wasn’t sure I was going to make it.

After this fun we headed back to the room to refuel for the Hot Air Balloon Festival. Max had a picnic on the bed.

Max really wanted to ride in a hot air balloon, so we stood in line for almost two hours. Finally, it was our turn. Our ride lasted less that three minutes, but the important thing was that Max loved his ride.

We went out to get some dinner at the Huddle House, the only place open. We waited there, too. The three of us are beyond tired and ready for bed.
